Een Eigen Gezicht

There are around 100.000 people with a facial deformity in the Netherlands. They don't match they ideal of classic beauty and encounter stare and quite direct comments in everyday life. To show how perfect "imperfection" can be I used the wet plate collodion technique to photograph 18 beautiful people with a facial disorder.

Together with the "Eigen Gezicht" Foundation an exhibition and book were made of this series. This to raise awareness at a wider audience. Part of this exhibition was also shown at Teijlers Museum in the Netherlands and Museum Dr. Guislain in Belgium.
